Very good points you make Terry. I have never seen the Vow list before it looks to me like a very large amount of connivance by the Society. I would also call it entrapment. It reminds of the oath of allegience to Hitler that all members of the armed forces were required to state publicly thus completely making him a dictator.
As for the argument that women should wear the burqa in order not to lead men into temptation it follows that gold ,silver and all valuables including sheep ,camels, goats etc. would also have to be covered as they can very tempting which is quite ridiculous. Thou shalt not covet should cover the situation.

Is the WT really a charity?
by The Song Remains The Same infurther to my enquiries here about the red cross, and also in noticing the autralian financials posted in this thread by jwleaks, i took a look at the uk financial statements helpfully posted at jwleaks here.. there is a lot of good information related to the income and expenses of the wt in the uk over a number of years.
well worth digging into if you are of a business mind for sure.
i will focus on the 2011 statements, found here and here since there seems to be two, one for the watchtower and one for the int'l bible students.

It seems to me that they operate a very neat little trick by transfering to themselves very large amounts of money from each country and calling it charitable donations thus avoiding tax.
Materially they help no one and the quailty of the so called spiritual help is to say the least very dubious.

Such a sad story might heart goes out to you may God bless you. I hope something good comes out of the retelling of your experiences hopefully it will make some Witnesses wake up to the fact that they are in a cult which has a total lack of love bearing no relation to the message of Jesus Christ.
JW's of the rank and file when are you going to wake up to the heartless reality of the book publishing confidence trick which parades as a Christian religion.

I ran into an active JW...surprised
by nolongerconfused inso as you all know, i have fully faded...i'm completely out and have not told the elders or da myself...just faded 100%.... so i run into an active jw, different congregation, and as i walk past him i say, "hey so and so, how are you doing?
"....he looks down, doesnt dare look at me in the eyeball and keeps walking...then a split second later he turns around and says, hey man, aren't yuo disfellowshipped?....
i was like wtf?...lol, i said "not that i know of"...i asked him who told him such thing?...he wouldnt tell me who, but he had "heard"...so i just left it at that and told him if he wants to know then to contact my ex-elders.... my thing is, could the elders have df'ed me without me knowing it?...i have not been accused of their so called "apostasy", nor have i received a letter requesting info or to set up a meeting, nor a call...the coordinating elder (formally president/presiding overseer) still texts me all the time saying hi etc...no religious texts or anything like that).

What would the JWs say if everybody in the World shunned them they would claim persecution right well that's just what they are doing to all their ex members who no longer agree with their nonsense . Shunning is a way of keeping the rank and file in line and woe betide any member thinking of becoming a whistle blower it would cause the Governing Body to throw their toys right out of their collective prams.
Tell them straight that they are going to grow old and die just like everybody else on planet Earth. I was right in 1965 they were wrong when I told the so called elders the same thing and sure enough most of them have gone now or are on the way out . If anyone wants to shun you tell them to grow up and get a life and do something useful.

Brilliant Terry you should get it published. A shiver went down my spine when you mentioned the book Make Sure Of All Things I remember the thin cigarette paper it was printed on and each time I had my doubts or tried to prove the Watchtower wrong I would study it and could not for the life of me prove it wrong with it's persuasive arguments until I learned to counteract it of course.
You brought all the memories back the warnings of not to engage in heavy petting and the guilty feelings of not going out on the work door to door work trying to get Watchtower subscriptions just to cover the cost of the printing of course so much craziness. I was young and gullible I even hoped Elvis would make it through Armageddon don't know if I expected him to be singing in the New World but I was dead miffed when an elderly sister said there will be none of that pop music after the mass destruction. I remember the record Kathy's Clown by the Everly Brothers always seemed to be playing somewhere in the background when I first started studying the publications and for years after every time I heard that song I would feel panicky it's strange the effects that a cult can have on the mind.
